50 years Waldis Transporte

Development of the family business

In 1955, the company Waldis Transport was founded by Charles B. Waldis with a small furniture truck in BS. As a master carpenter with specialized knowledge and love for his craft, he knew how to handle furniture and thus, thanks to his diligence and sense of duty, he won more and more customers. He even received small and larger orders from the state again and again. Four years later, Ch. Waldis bought a large furniture truck with which he was then able to carry out large removals in Switzerland and Europe.

In 1962 son Kurt Waldis joined the company. In 1966 the company was enlarged by another vehicle. In 1970 a vehicle of the company Musik Hug AG was taken over including delivery contracts in Basel, Olten, Delémont and Neuchâtel. This acquisition enriched the Waldis company with a special team for piano and grand piano transports. With this specialization, the company gained customers such as Piano Eckenstein, Radio Basel, Casino Gesellschaft, Musik-Akademie, piano factories Burger Jakobi and Schmittflor, etc., etc.

From 1955 - 1973 Celine Waldis (wife of Charles Waldis) was in charge of the transport office, after that daughter Anita Waldis, today Mrs. Anita Huber - Waldis, took over the office work.

In 1979 son Kurt Waldis took over the transport company, after father and son worked together in the company for 17 years.

The fleet of vehicles was expanded and modernized again and again. In order to protect the furniture and the staff, 2 furniture elevators were purchased as well as 1 trailer for containers, car and boat transports.

Mr. Stefan Trendelenburg, who has been with the company since 1983, became team leader of the heavy transports.

In 1987 the Waldis company moved into its own newly built office and furniture warehouse in Allschwil, with a total area of 3200m2. The warehouse has a 4-ton goods lift, fitting ramps, piano and wing storage, furniture storage, carpentry, offices, garages and parking spaces.

In 1994, Sandro Waldis (son of Kurt and Béatrice Waldis), the 3rd generation, joined his father's company and took over the field service. The junior rejuvenated the company in terms of personnel. The outfit of the vehicle fleet was modernized, white background with blue writing.

In 1996 there was a change of personnel in the office area. Mrs. Benz was replaced by Béatrice Waldis (wife of Kurt Waldis) after 20 years of office work, Mrs. Anita Huber-Waldis (the most loyal soul) retired after 33 years of service and was also replaced by a new office worker.
